Join Agoda as a Staff System Engineer
Agoda is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff System Engineer to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team in Bangkok. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and managing our infrastructure, which supports one of the largest online travel platforms in the world.
About the Role
As a Staff System Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of automation toolsets to enhance the efficiency of Agoda’s IT infrastructure. This includes tasks such as bare metal deployment, software installation and patching, monitoring, and remediation. You will manage incidents and daily operational tasks in both production and development environments, occasionally outside of business hours.
You will provide expert advice and guidance to other infrastructure team members and software developers, effectively mentoring less experienced staff. You will lead and manage implementation projects from start to finish, working across multiple teams and departments. Additionally, you will conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting investigations, coordinating datacenter operations tasks with remote staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation toolsets for IT infrastructure.
- Manage incidents and operational tasks in production and development environments.
- Provide expert advice and mentorship to team members.
- Lead and manage implementation projects across teams.
- Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting investigations.
- Coordinate datacenter operations tasks with remote staff.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of IT operations experience in large heterogeneous environments.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes, including designing and managing scalable, resilient, and efficient containerized environments.
- Proficiency in scripting/automation languages such as Python, Go, YAML, Ruby, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible.
- Expertise in Grafana dashboard development and query languages like SQL, JQL, Elasticsearch, and PromQL.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to conduct deep dive analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in CI/CD, preferably from a DevOps background, with in-depth knowledge of GitLab.
- Strong sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of networking architecture within complex e-commerce environments.
- Excellent English communication skills and a strong analytical mindset.
