Agoda is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bangkok. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of our data systems that support millions of travelers worldwide.
About the Role
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will lead a team of talented engineers in enhancing the scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency of our existing data systems. You will be responsible for building, administering, and scaling data processing pipelines, and designing new libraries, frameworks, or full systems for our core systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical improvement of our data systems to enhance scalability, stability, accuracy, speed, and efficiency.
- Build, administer, and scale data processing pipelines.
- Design, build, test, and deploy new libraries, frameworks, or full systems for our core systems while maintaining high standards of testing and code quality.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and product owners to identify and build tools to automate large-scale data management and analysis tasks.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering.
- Expertise in Apache Spark and JVM (Java or Scala).
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in debugging and reasoning about production issues.
- Good understanding of data architecture principles and Big Data technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and systems administration skills in Linux.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Hadoop ecosystems and open-source products.
- Python/Shell scripting skills.
- Experience working in an agile environment using test-driven methodologies.
