Job Overview
Handshake is seeking a Tech Lead Manager, Machine Learning to join our team with a focus on Generative AI and Recommendations. This role reports to the Head of Core Relevance and is pivotal in advancing our AI product and infrastructure vision. You will be part of a high-impact team responsible for building a data platform with cutting-edge production systems such as embedding-based retrieval, Graph Neural Networks, Fine-Tuned LLMs, and multi-stage rankers.
Key Responsibilities
- Force Multiplier: Set technical direction, shape engineering culture, and adopt industry best practices.
- Leadership: Manage a lean team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, ensuring effective collaboration and high-quality execution.
- Innovation: Develop algorithms and machine learning systems that connect users across the Handshake marketplace.
- Collaboration: Partner with product managers to drive new user experiences through machine learning and natural language processing.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience.
- 4+ years of industry ML experience as a Tech Lead or Tech Lead Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS/Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of industry ML experience.
- Experience building web-scale AI systems, feature stores, and microservices.
- Background in recommendations, optimization, NLP, deep learning, LLMs, and explainable AI.
- Experience with IAAS platforms like Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to senior leadership.
