Purpose of the Role
The VPN team at Proton is dedicated to building the most reliable and secure VPN service. As a Back-End Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing backend solutions that ensure user privacy and data security across the globe.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and architects to develop scalable and resilient backend systems.
- Work alongside product management and client application developers to meet critical business and reliability requirements.
- Document and ensure proper implementation of backend functionalities by all Proton VPN clients.
- Debug and repair essential systems, contributing to a robust service architecture.
Job Requirements
- Proficiency in PHP and understanding of SQL and data modeling.
- Experience with Redis or similar caching technologies and security best practices.
- Knowledge of HTTP/REST and web API development.
- Familiarity with cryptography concepts and containerization technologies like Docker.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar tools.
- Operational experience in SRE or similar roles, with a knack for troubleshooting complex systems.
