Job Overview

Join EUMETSAT as a Cloud Computing Infrastructure Service Engineer and play a pivotal role in managing and evolving our hybrid cloud infrastructure. This position is based in Darmstadt, Germany, and offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of satellite technology, contributing to the monitoring of weather and climate from space.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and Maintain Infrastructure: Oversee the EUMETSAT on-premises hybrid cloud infrastructure, including capacity planning and roadmap development for future evolutions.
Industrial Support Contracts: Manage contracts related to industrial support for cloud infrastructure services.
Design and Evolve Services: Design new cloud infrastructure services and evolve existing ones based on changing needs and requirements.
User and Project Support: Provide expert support for onboarding new users and projects, focusing on cloud infrastructure usage.
Technical Support: Offer technical support to EUMETSAT teams on OpenStack, VMware, and cloud container management solutions.
Automation and Monitoring: Automate routine processes and monitoring using industry-standard APIs.

Qualifications

Education: University degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Proven background in software development or system engineering, with practical experience in hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in OpenStack, VMware, Kubernetes, and cloud services. Experience with APIs, automation, and orchestration using Python, Ruby, or Java.
System Maintenance: Experience in maintaining operational 24/7 systems.
Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodology and cloud-native applications is advantageous.
