You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our monitoring systems, ensuring operational excellence across our platforms. What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain our observability tools and platforms, focusing on high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate observability practices into the development lifecycle, enhancing system transparency and reliability.
- Lead the creation and adoption of standardized observability frameworks to ensure consistency and efficiency across the organisation.
- Design, implement, and refine data pipelines that collect, aggregate, and normalize telemetry data from diverse sources.
- Advocate for best practices in code instrumentation, ensuring high-quality data collection for insightful monitoring and analysis.
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive service inventory, tracking changes and impacts to guide operational decisions.
- Engage in continuous learning and sharing of knowledge within the team, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in observability.
What You'll Bring
- Have a solid background in software engineering, with a specific passion for observability and monitoring of distributed systems.
- Experience with at least one major cloud-based provider (Bonus points: Google Cloud)
- Experience in tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, and Sentry, and development practices using Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Terraform.
- Know your way around Linux systems and the shell
- Demonstrated experience in developing or adopting libraries for seamless integration with observability tools.
- Good coding skills in languages relevant to our stack (e.g., PHP, Java, Python, Go).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to tackling complex challenges.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in a hybrid work environment to foster team synergy and influence without authority.
- Bonus: Prior experience with Data Analytics and Data Pipelines to collect and derive insights from observability data.
