About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at Fonoa, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our suite of API products that automate tax-related workflows for internet companies. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating backend services that are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and Build: Take ownership of the backend services you build, from design to deployment and operation in production.
• Collaborate: Work closely with product managers and other engineers to define the future of our products and deliver value with every release.
• Innovate: Use modern technologies such as REST, GRPC, and Microservices to build meaningful products that our customers depend on.
• Data Management: Record and manage terabytes of data from various operations for long-term storage and future insights.
• Continuous Improvement: Feed learnings and observations from operating the system back into our products to continuously improve them.

• Backend: Node.js and Go
• Frontend: ReactJS and Typescript
• Persistence: PostgreSQL and S3
• Cloud Services: Azure and GCP
• Infrastructure: Managed with Terraform, Kubernetes CRDs, ArgoCD, and DataDog

• Experience with Microservices: Comfortable scaling and operating large-scale microservices in high-growth environments.
• Proficiency in Node.js and Go: Most of our current codebase is in these languages, but we are open to using the best tools for the job.
• Data-Driven: You use data over opinions to make decisions and are comfortable finding the data yourself when it’s missing.
