As a Series A startup, we have raised nearly $30M and have seen a revenue growth of over 980% year-over-year. Our team is small but mighty, with fewer than 30 employees, and we are looking for a talented Full Stack Engineer to join us.

About the Role

This is a remote position that focuses primarily on backend development and product engineering, with optional frontend responsibilities. We are open to candidates from a broad range of experience levels, equivalent to L3 to L6 at a large tech firm. As a Full Stack Engineer at Databento, you will have a significant impact on the company's trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Develop APIs: Create and maintain scalable APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product designers and frontend engineers to build new web application features.
Database Management: Handle database schema changes and migrations to support our applications.
Implement Best Practices: Collaborate with the systems team to implement best practices for build, deployment, and CI/CD.
Performance Monitoring: Implement monitoring solutions and improve application performance and stability.
Feature Rollouts: Ensure smooth rollouts and updates of new features.

Required Skills and Experience

At least 1 year of full-time software engineering experience, preferably in a tech company, high-growth startup, or fintech firm.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Experience with modern web APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, HTTP/3) and web development frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django).
Experience with relational (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Vitess) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Clickhouse).
Practical experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes).
Experience with deployment pipelines (e.g., zero-downtime deployment, A/B/multivariate testing, feature flags).
Good communication skills and work ethic for a collaborative remote environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with frontend development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React SPAs, Next.js, Astro, Tailwind CSS).
An interest in financial data or algorithmic trading.
