Team Overview

The Office of Ethical and Humane Use at Salesforce is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Data Scientist focused on responsible AI. You will collaborate with the Einstein product and engineering teams, AI Frontier, and Salesforce AI Research teams to ensure the development and deployment of models align with our ethical guidelines.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Responsible Machine Learning Data Scientist, you will:

• Partner with Salesforce AI Research and distributed Data Science and Engineering teams to measure and address potential bias in data and models.
• Build datasets for testing generative and predictive models in collaboration with partner teams.
• Participate in technical discussions and drive engineering investments in responsible AI to enhance model fairness and safety.
• Develop quantitative metrics to extract insights from structured datasets.
• Conduct end-to-end experiments and analyses, from requirements gathering to data processing and modeling.
• Assist in data curation to develop safety detectors and validate synthetic data generation.
• Collaborate with industry leaders to improve responsible AI development.

Required Skills and Experience

• Practical experience in machine learning with a Master's degree in a quantitative discipline and 8+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in building and prototyping machine learning models and algorithms, and handling large datasets.
• Knowledge of standard machine learning approaches such as Regression, Cross-Validation, Boosting, Matrix-Factorization, Decision Trees, Clustering, CNNs, RNNs, Transformers, and GANs.
• Expertise in Python and common machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Pandas, PyTorch, SciPy, scikit-learn, and JAX.
• Proficiency in SQL, shell scripting, and Unix/Linux command-line tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present ideas to diverse teams.

Desired Skills

• Experience in bringing data science solutions from problem identification to production.
• Familiarity with designing and building micro-services, Kubernetes, containerization, RESTful API, and gRPC.
• Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and driving significant business results.
• Passion for technology as a force for social good, ethics, and fairness.
