MOIA is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer & Chapter Lead to join our Payment team. This role is pivotal in driving the development of our payment systems, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for our users. As a Chapter Lead, you will balance technical responsibilities with leadership duties, guiding your team to success.
Your Role
As a Chapter Lead, you will:
- Lead with Servant Leadership: Inspire and guide engineers using a servant leadership approach, fostering a supportive and empowering environment.
- Balance Dual Roles: Spend 20% to 50% of your time on people leadership tasks, adapting to the demands of the organization.
- Focus on Performance: Collaborate with other roles to ensure fair and unbiased salaries across your chapter based on performance.
- Be a Role Model: Uphold MOIA's core values in both people leadership and product delivery.
- Develop Culture: Shape and nurture MOIA's tech culture, ensuring it remains innovative and inclusive.
- Enhance Customer Experience: Work with your team to deliver a smooth and friction-free app experience for our customers.
- Assure Quality: Ensure systems meet the highest quality standards through code reviews, testing, and validation.
- Embrace Agile: Follow core agile methodologies, including DevOps best practices, automated testing, and continuous deployment.
About the Payment Team
The Payment team is dedicated to delivering a convenient and secure payment experience to our passengers. We have successfully implemented robust payment solutions for millions of rides in Hamburg and Hanover. Now, we are scaling our B2C payment system within a B2B2C/B2G2C licensing model across multiple European cities. This involves building infrastructure to integrate new payment providers and incorporating payment flows within MOIA’s extensive distributed system.
What You Bring
- Technical Expertise: Experience with Scala and/or functional programming in JVM languages. Familiarity with Kubernetes on AWS is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading people and supporting their career growth.
- Organizational Insight: Understanding of organizational development dynamics.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to navigate and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Feedback Orientation: Value feedback in pairing and code review processes.
