At Journi, we are on a mission to revolutionize the personalized print industry by turning your photos into printed memories with ease. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team in Vienna, Austria.
What You'll Do
- Develop Core Features: Work on the core of our leading printing app, primarily using Scala, to enable customers to create personalized print products effortlessly.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with frontend developers, product designers, and managers to design and develop new features and REST APIs.
- Drive Improvements: Proactively identify and communicate improvements in your work and the team's processes.
- Share Expertise: Provide guidance and share your backend engineering expertise with the Journi team.
Who You Are
- Experienced Developer: You have 3+ years of experience in backend development, with strong knowledge in JVM-based languages such as Scala, Kotlin, or Java.
- API Design: You have experience in developing and designing REST APIs.
- Database Proficiency: You are skilled in working with SQL databases like PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like Redis.
- Communicator and Collaborator: You possess strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Problem Solver: You are passionate about solving problems and are constantly learning and seeking feedback.
- EU Work Permit: You are permitted to work in the EU/Austria or have a degree in Computer Science to apply for an Austrian work permit.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Docker, AWS (S3, SQS, ECS, etc.), GitLab, and CI/CD processes.
- Experience with statistical methods or machine learning algorithms.
- Experience with migrations from monolith to microservice infrastructure.
