Join Our Team as a Senior Backend Engineer
About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer in our Hosting Services team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our co-hosting tools. These tools are designed to enhance the Airbnb experience by making it easier for hosts to connect with co-hosts. You will work closely with engineering teams based in San Francisco to elevate this project to a global scale, focusing on new functionalities that support a major company strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and Drive Projects: Lead the scoping phase, define technical requirements, and implement new functionalities.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with other engineering teams and cross-functional partners, including Product Management, Design, Data, and Technical Program Management.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
A Typical Day
- Architect and implement complex features with a focus on data-driven decision-making and performance optimizations.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to understand and prioritize technical requirements.
- Proactively grow knowledge of leading-edge practices and trends in workflow orchestration systems.
- Define and improve coding standards, development processes, and best practices.
Your Expertise
- Experience: 5+ years in a hands-on software engineering role, specializing in backend or full-stack development.
- Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master/PhD’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin, with a strong focus on efficiency, availability, and system quality.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well within engineering organizations and cross-functional teams.
- Leadership: Ability to drive alignment, manage projects, and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
