About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Monta, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our B2B Charge Point Management System (CPMS), known as the Hub. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about application development and PHP, and who is eager to contribute to the evolution of our software solutions for the EV charging ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define features that meet user needs.
- Perform validation and verification testing.
- Document development phases and monitor system performance.
- Develop new features and maintain existing ones in our PHP codebase.
- Get onboarded and develop and maintain our Kotlin BFF service.
- Shape best practices to support faster iterations and growth.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers with less PHP experience.
- Integrate our BFF (Kotlin) with our PHP monolith and micro-services to meet Front End needs.
- Help business clients seamlessly onboard thousands of users & charge points into the Hub.

Required Skills and Experience
- Strong proficiency in PHP 8.x & Laravel.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
- Expertise in building RESTful APIs and familiarity with Open API 3.x.
- Good communication, feedback, and collaboration skills.
- Passionate about highly performant teams & applications.
- Comfortable with learning new technologies and topics.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Java and Spring/Springboot or Kotlin and Micronaut.
- Knowledge of Kafka and event-driven technologies.
