Job Overview
Sphinx Defense is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Space Communications team. This role involves building a ground communications and data-transport platform for US government satellites. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will lead the development of core platform services, designing and building technology to support the operations of a wide variety of US Government satellites. You will work both as an individual contributor and as a lead for junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of multi-tenant services on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Develop and consume APIs and services as part of a platform ecosystem.
- Focus on automation and security in software development.
- Own technical problems end-to-end, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Engage in self-directed learning to stay updated with new technologies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience with Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Proven experience in architecting and building APIs and backend services.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one commercial cloud platform and its associated services.
- Ability to work with some ambiguity and self-direct work.
- Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions based on past experiences.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from €160,000 to €185,000 per year.
