About the Role
As a Senior Backend Java Engineer at BlackRock, you will be part of the Aladdin Engineering team, tasked with developing and enhancing BlackRock's investment operating system, Aladdin. This role involves working on complex, high-availability, and high-throughput systems that handle trillions in assets and support millions of financial instruments globally.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members across multiple offices and countries.
- Develop high-efficiency, high-availability, concurrent, and fault-tolerant software systems.
- Contribute significantly to the development of Aladdin’s global, multi-asset trading platform.
- Work with product management and business users to define the roadmap for the product.
- Design and develop innovative solutions to complex problems, identifying issues and roadblocks.
- Apply validated quality software engineering practices through all phases of development.
- Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression, and user acceptance testing, dev ops, and level two production support.
- Lead with vision and motivate others through brainstorming solutions for team productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications
- B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject area.
- 4+ years of experience in software development with a strong foundation in Java and related technologies.
Skills and Experience
- Expertise in Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and microservices.
- Experience in concurrent programming and designing high throughput, high availability, fault tolerant distributed applications.
- Strong analytical and software architecture design skills with an emphasis on test driven development.
- Experience with relational databases is essential.
- Exposure to cloud-native design patterns and event-driven microservice architectures is beneficial.
