Join Checkr as a Senior Backend Software Engineer

Checkr is seeking a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Product Enablement team. This role is pivotal in enhancing Checkr’s scalability, flexibility, and speed to market for our products by developing and promoting foundational platform components. You will be instrumental in executing proof of concept projects, driving towards a north star architectural vision for our background check products, and ensuring seamless internal customer validation and platform adoption.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Development: Own the development of product platform features from design through to release.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with other Engineering and Product teams to architect new platform capabilities.
• Code Quality: Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our products, ensuring they are performant, reliable, scalable, and secure.
• Issue Resolution: Monitor, investigate, triage, and resolve production issues for services owned by the team.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers on the team and across the organization.

What You Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Ruby (preferred), Python, or Golang. Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as relational databases, data structures, algorithms, Object Relational Mapping, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Ownership: A strong sense of ownership across all aspects of the development lifecycle.
• Collaboration: Desire to collaborate and share knowledge with peers, both within the team and across the organization.
• Learning: An eagerness to learn, improve, and innovate.

Work Environment

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. Individuals are expected to work from the office 2 to 3 days a week. In-office perks include lunch four times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages.

Salary

The base salary range for this role is $148,637 to $174,867 in Denver, CO.
