Job Overview
Care.com is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Ruby on Rails to join our dynamic engineering team in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying features on both the front and back end of our technology platform. This platform supports our out-of-home provider network, including daycare centers, preschools, and other service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop: Work on both front-end and back-end development to create robust features and functionalities.
- Integration: Integrate with essential third-party services and APIs to enhance our platform's capabilities.
- Testing and Reliability: Ensure appropriate automated test coverage to maintain efficient uptime and product reliability.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with the engineering team and partners across other departments to communicate progress and address blockers.
- Legacy System Revamp: Participate in revamping several legacy systems, including those built in Java/.NET and MySQL.
Qualifications
- Experience: 6+ years of software development experience, with a strong background in Ruby on Rails.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Ruby/Rails, with a willingness to explore other frameworks and technologies such as Go, React.js, and GitHub Actions.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of working effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Nice to Have: Experience with Heroku/AWS, Stripe, Solr, Minitest/Capybara, Java, and Postgres is a plus.
