About The Role
Chime is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing APIs that power our member-facing products and iterating on our banking platform. You will have the opportunity to own projects from start to finish, influencing architecture, implementing APIs, and maintaining the ongoing health of the code.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, refactor, and scale backend implementations of new and existing consumer product features.
- Collaborate with the mobile team to design and build robust, resilient APIs that enhance our mobile app.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand member challenges and devise creative solutions.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the reliability and scalability of our systems.
- Maintain high technical standards across the engineering team.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in software development in a production environment at scale.
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
- Experience with transactional databases and caching systems.
- Familiarity with architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications.
- A strong appreciation for maintainable and well-tested code.
- A desire to learn and explore the deepest levels of how things work.
- Start-up experience is a plus.
