Role Description
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in the Deliverability team, you will be responsible for the core systems that connect Front to the external world. These systems process millions of events, delivering emails, SMS, and other messages quickly and reliably. You will own key services, lead architectural evolutions, and collaborate with other teams to build next-generation architecture.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the development of key services that power Front.
- Collaborate with systems and infrastructure teams to design and build scalable and reliable architecture.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to conceptualize, build, and test new features.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in backend development at a large-scale Internet service.
- Proficiency in dynamic languages like JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
- Proven track record in launching and delivering complex projects.
- Experience with asynchronous work queues, high-volume storage systems, or high-throughput systems.
- Understanding of engineering solutions trade-offs, valuing pragmatism over idealism.
Preferred Skills
- Deep knowledge of the email stack and associated RFCs.
- Experience with anti-spam infrastructure and email delivery services like SendGrid or MailGun.
- Familiarity with Kafka, Gmail, or Office 365 APIs.
