About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Making Science, you will be tasked with architecting and building scalable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your role will involve designing, developing, and deploying advanced data pipelines and architectures to support our clients' digital marketing capabilities. You will drive automation and efficiency through the development and implementation of automation solutions for data processing, workflows, and reporting, leveraging GCP services like Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Vertex AI.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable data solutions: Design, develop, and deploy advanced data pipelines and architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support and fuel our clients' digital marketing capabilities.
• Drive automation and efficiency: Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions for data processing, workflows, and reporting, leveraging GCP services like Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Vertex AI.
• Champion best practices: Engage in software development best practices, including design reviews, code walk-throughs, and knowledge sharing to ensure high-quality, maintainable data solutions.
• Mentor and Inspire: Guide and mentor junior data engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Lead the team in daily task planning and ensure smooth execution and deliveries.
• Shape the roadmap: Participate in defining the product roadmap for our digital marketing optimization tools, providing valuable insights from a data engineering perspective.
• Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance our digital marketing capabilities through innovative data solutions and efficient use of GCP resources.

What We Expect from You

• Proven Data Engineering Expertise: 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying advanced data solutions in a fast-paced business environment.
• Google Cloud Mastery: Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services essential to data engineering, including Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
• Automation Champion: Proven track record of implementing and maintaining automated data workloads using orchestration tools, CI/CD pipelines, and robust monitoring solutions.
• Real-Time Data Expertise: Experience with building and maintaining continuous data processing architectures and real-time data analytics solutions.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers in software design and task planning.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Python, SQL, and data pipeline development frameworks. Experience with Java is a plus. Comfortable with Git, Shell scripting, and Linux environments.
• Marketing Integration: Familiarity with marketing API integrations and the technical implementation of marketing solutions.
• Excellent Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Fluent English is required.
