Senior DevOps Engineer (OpenShift)

Introduction

Join IBM's Consulting Client Innovation Centers as a Senior DevOps Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of driving technical and industry expertise across a variety of clients and sectors. This role is pivotal in enhancing our clients' hybrid cloud and AI journeys, leveraging IBM's extensive technology portfolio, including Software and Red Hat.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, implementation, monitoring, and management of OpenShift environments to support IBM's applications and services. You will collaborate closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure system reliability, availability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy OpenShift clusters in both production and non-production environments.
• Optimize OpenShift infrastructure components such as nodes, pods, routes, and services.
• Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and network policies.
• Proactively monitor and troubleshoot OpenShift clusters to identify and resolve issues.
• Automate routine tasks and workflows using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
• Conduct regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and capacity planning.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers in managing OpenShift services.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a focus on OpenShift deployments.
• In-depth knowledge of OpenShift architecture, components, and deployment methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience in database deployment and configuration with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of GDPR and other security and privacy policies.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools like Ansible.
• Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
