Senior Java/Scala Developer

Job Summary

Join Comcast, a Fortune 30 global media and technology company, as a Senior Java/Scala Developer. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications, analyzing, testing, and assisting with the integration of new applications. You will oversee the documentation of all development activity and train non-technical personnel. You will also assist with tracking performance metrics and act as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.

Technical Requirements

• 8-10 years of Java development experience using various Java technology stacks and Java-based frameworks.
• 5+ years of experience with Scala and related development frameworks.
• 5+ years of experience with Spring Boot.
• 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies; AWS experience and experiences with EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc. are preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with Web application development and JavaScript experience.
• 5+ years of experience with working AWS RDS and Linux-based operating systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
• Conduct analysis to determine integration needs.
• Design new software and web applications, support applications under development, and customize current applications.
• Develop software update processes for existing applications.
• Assist in the roll-out of software releases.
• Train junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
• Oversee the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
• Keep current with technological developments within the industry.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques.
• Serve as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
• Assist in tracking and evaluating performance metrics.
• Work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree preferred, but a combination of coursework and experience, or extensive related professional experience, may be considered.
