Job Description
Surfside is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Frontend to join our dynamic team in New York, NY. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will lead initiatives on an autonomous, high-performing team. You will own components of the overall Surfside product, be responsible for the delivery of features, mentor junior team members, work with the product team to build our advertising platform, and drive technical excellence. This position requires architectural vision as we build and deploy the next generation of our software.
Responsibilities
- Identify and propose improvements to the current system architecture that emphasize reliability and scalability.
- Work with the product and engineering teams to produce development plans and see them through to delivery and success.
- Grow and mentor the team, ensuring continuity and ongoing career development.
- Contribute to the collaborative development processes within the organization on both product and technical domains.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial software development, designing, building, and operating frontend applications.
- Comprehensive programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript along with modern frontend frameworks and libraries.
- Robust skills in HTML and CSS best practices, including inner workings of the DOM, iFrames, and security features.
- Insights and intrigue in building high-performance secure client-side applications nested within critical components of partners' multi-page and single-page applications.
- Ability to learn quickly and absorb new information.
- Problem-solving skills using both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Leadership skills to mentor and help organize engineering contributors.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
