Airbnb is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our Client Products & Emerging Tech team. This newly established team is responsible for building impactful product features for Airbnb’s Guests and Hosts using both new and existing technologies. As a Staff Frontend Engineer, you will play a critical role in the end-to-end development of new product areas that leverage emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Explore and Develop New Product Experiences: Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including design and product teams, to ideate, prototype, develop, and ship innovative product experiences.
• Lead Technical Investments: Drive investments into new technical capabilities that push the envelope and unlock product innovation.
• Prototype and Validate Ideas: Develop prototypes to validate ideas while considering long-term implications on technical design and architecture.
• Translate Prototypes to Production Code: Convert prototypes into high-quality, scalable, and maintainable production code through iterative development.
• Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Partner with peer engineering teams to integrate new features that impact different areas within the product.
• Code Quality and Testing: Write unit and integration tests, and review code to ensure high standards.

Required Expertise

• Extensive Experience: 9+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Framework Proficiency: Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Preact, Angular, Next, Vue, or Meteor.
• End-to-End Product Delivery: Passion for delivering products from ideation through planning, scoping, implementation, and experimental A/B testing.
• Frontend Architecture: Deep understanding of frontend architecture and improving build processes (npm, yarn, webpack, parcel).
• Industry Standards: Experience driving adoption of industry standards for building user interfaces, including accessibility, internationalization, performance optimization, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility.
• CSS Scaling and Architecture: Experience scaling and architecting CSS across multiple projects and products.
• Reusable Components: Ability to architect and promote a library of reusable components.
• Testing: Understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• User Experience: Passion for building interactive and delightful user experiences.

Location

This position is US - Remote Eligible. While the role is primarily remote, occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required, as agreed with your manager. You must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: $204,000—$254,000 USD
• Additional Benefits: This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
