WP Engine is seeking a talented Senior Web Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for a developer who is passionate about WordPress and has a strong background in modern web development technologies, particularly React.

About the Role

As a Senior Web Developer, you will be a key player in reshaping the public face of WP Engine. You will work closely with other developers, designers, and partners across our Marketing department to build high-traffic, high-performance, and high-visibility sites. These sites run on both headless and traditional WordPress platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with your team to build elegant and compelling user experiences on the web.
• Develop new components and modify existing ones for our Atlas site.
• Migrate content from old WordPress sites to our new platform.
• Improve tooling and work with the engineering team to enhance the platform.
• Identify gaps in our processes and suggest improvements.
• Ensure our architecture, plugins, and internal developer experience are well-crafted.
• Address security vulnerabilities to improve site security.
• Embrace challenges in a fast-paced environment with high visibility sites.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of modern WordPress development.
• Expertise in native block development using React.
• Familiarity with the WordPress Block Editor and theme.json.
• Competence in React, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Proven experience in modern front-end web development, including semantic HTML and modern CSS.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with WordPress headless frameworks like Atlas or Faust.js.
• Familiarity with Next.js and GraphQL.
• Experience with build and automation tools such as Composer, Yarn, Webpack, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
• Solid understanding of automated testing and monitoring.
• Server administration experience (e.g., nginx configuration, Cloudflare).
• Marketing and analytics experience.
• Systems thinking and ability to think at multiple levels of abstraction.
