Join WP Engine as a Senior Web Developer
WP Engine is seeking a talented Senior Web Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for a developer who is passionate about WordPress and has a strong background in modern web development technologies, particularly React.
About the Role
As a Senior Web Developer, you will be a key player in reshaping the public face of WP Engine. You will work closely with other developers, designers, and partners across our Marketing department to build high-traffic, high-performance, and high-visibility sites. These sites run on both headless and traditional WordPress platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your team to build elegant and compelling user experiences on the web.
- Develop new components and modify existing ones for our Atlas site.
- Migrate content from old WordPress sites to our new platform.
- Improve tooling and work with the engineering team to enhance the platform.
- Identify gaps in our processes and suggest improvements.
- Ensure our architecture, plugins, and internal developer experience are well-crafted.
- Address security vulnerabilities to improve site security.
- Embrace challenges in a fast-paced environment with high visibility sites.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of modern WordPress development.
- Expertise in native block development using React.
- Familiarity with the WordPress Block Editor and theme.json.
- Competence in React, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Proven experience in modern front-end web development, including semantic HTML and modern CSS.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with WordPress headless frameworks like Atlas or Faust.js.
- Familiarity with Next.js and GraphQL.
- Experience with build and automation tools such as Composer, Yarn, Webpack, Docker, and CI/CD tools.
- Solid understanding of automated testing and monitoring.
- Server administration experience (e.g., nginx configuration, Cloudflare).
- Marketing and analytics experience.
- Systems thinking and ability to think at multiple levels of abstraction.
