WP Engine is seeking a passionate Software Engineer II to join our team and contribute to the evolution of open source WordPress projects. As a leading WordPress technology company, we are committed to supporting the WordPress open source community and are excited to offer this opportunity to engage in making WordPress an amazing Headless CMS through our WPGraphQL and Faust.js™ initiatives.
About the Role
In this role, you will be a key member of a team dedicated to evolving open source projects such as WPGraphQL and its ecosystem of extensions, as well as the Faust.js™ library. You will engage with the community daily to gain insights and proactively advise and act on feedback for the benefit of the community. Collaboration with the team and the community to formulate and deliver new features is a core part of this role.

Your Expertise and Passion
- Open Source Enthusiast: Passionate about open source software with a commitment to sharing and contributing to the community.
- Effective Communicator: Able and willing to engage publicly on technical challenges and concerns.
- WordPress Development: Deep understanding of WordPress development best practices.
- API Knowledge: Familiar with GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs.
- Software Development Experience: Ideally, 2+ years of experience in a software development role with a track record of delivering high-quality software.
- Continuous Learner: Demonstrated history of staying current with technology trends through continuous learning.
- Proactive Problem Solver: Possess natural problem-solving abilities, an inquisitive personality, and the capability to tackle issues even with uncertain requirements.
Helpful Experience
- Familiarity with headless concepts (SSG, SSR, ISR, etc).
- Experience with git and agile development processes.
- Experience with API tools like Postman, GraphiQL, etc.
- Proven experience contributing to public open source projects.
- Experience in developing custom WordPress plugins or building custom blocks.
- Skilled in one or more of the following: PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js.
