HeraldAPI builds digital infrastructure for commercial insurance, enabling developers to quote and bind insurance from multiple carriers using a single API. As we expand, our goal is to simplify the insurance buying process, making it as straightforward as purchasing any other service online.
The Role
We are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in API development to join our dynamic team. This role involves critical engineering tasks, including the design and specification of APIs. You will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to understand business needs and user requirements, ensuring the development of high-quality, well-documented APIs.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the API design and specification process.
- Own and build insurance APIs, defining core object models and translating business requirements into API specs.
- Collaborate with teams across Herald to deliver thoughtful, extensible API designs.
- Tackle well-scoped software problems independently.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of the platform.
- Write comprehensive documentation to enhance developer experience.
What You Bring
- 4+ years of software development experience.
- 2+ years in an API-focused design environment.
- Strong understanding of API design principles and developer needs.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems, preferably with PostgreSQL and/or Redis components.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new skills on the job.
