Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience team. This role is pivotal in shaping the tools and processes that Samsara engineers use to build, release, and operate applications. You will be involved in architecture and design decisions, focusing on our CI/CD platform, GitHub organization, developer environments, and testing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop platform tooling for product teams to self-service and manage their services.
- Enhance the efficiency of delivering new features by addressing engineering pain points.
- Establish best practices and support systems for delivering top-notch customer experiences.
- Conduct research to understand the needs of both internal and external customers.
- Maintain and provide operational support for systems owned by your team.
- Collaborate with other engineering stakeholders to ensure sustained impact.
- Champion Samsara’s cultural principles, including customer success and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with modern development practices.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Golang.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- A growth mindset with a passion for learning new skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with public cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience in improving CI/CD systems.
- Proficiency in using data to drive changes and improvements.
- Familiarity with observability tools and standards.
- Competence in UNIX shell and Linux operating systems.
- Enjoyment in working with diverse developer focuses, including frontend and mobile.
Compensation and Benefits
Samsara offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, bonuses, and RSUs for eligible roles. The annual base salary for this position ranges from $102,638 to $172,500 USD, depending on factors such as location and experience.
