Backend Engineer (Go)
About the Role
Join our dynamic team at Happening, where we are revolutionizing the sports betting and gaming industry. As a Backend Engineer specializing in Go, you will be a crucial part of our Offer team, which is responsible for delivering accurate real-time odds to millions of users. Our platform is built on a robust microservices architecture, utilizing Golang for the backend and TypeScript/React/Redux for the frontend.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with highly skilled engineers across the UK and Europe to contribute to code reviews, product design, and whiteboard sessions.
- Directly contribute to the design and development of our platform, ensuring high-quality code and performance.
- Mentor team members and drive the team’s success by facilitating delivery and promoting good engineering practices.
- Design solutions that meet requirements and assign priorities accordingly.
- Work closely with stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions for our customers.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on mentoring and delivering product features.
- Proven track record of engineering high-quality software, with Go experience being a plus.
- Expertise in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on performance and scalability.
- Strong understanding of software engineering practices, including thorough code reviews and design documentation.
- Familiarity with Agile, Continuous Delivery, and TDD principles.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Bonus Points
- Passion for working with cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of Kafka.
