We believe consumers have the right to easily permission their financial data to access fair financial services without sharing sensitive bank details like usernames and passwords. Our technology creates significant value for lenders and financial services providers, as well as the consumers and small businesses they serve. With customer consent, Rightfoot surfaces up-to-date banking and credit data without a log-in experience, increasing conversion in the onboarding process and enabling financial institutions to monitor customer accounts and screen for fraud.
Job Description
As a Backend Engineer at Rightfoot, you will work with our existing engineers to design, build, test, and deploy new features of our passwordless financial data platform. You will use your communication skills to collaborate with others and engage your problem-solving skills to help build the core functionality of our new platform. You will be expected to:
- Use your startup mindset to identify problems and suggest solutions across the board.
- Be mentored and upskilled by highly experienced engineers.
- Act like an owner of Rightfoot and make bold decisions in areas of ambiguity with minimal guidance.
- Continuously ship new features, learn from mistakes, and iterate.
- Learn new technologies, tools, or techniques and advocate for or against them as necessary.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building backend services for SaaS products or similar.
- 2+ years of experience with a strongly typed, object-oriented language (we use Java).
- Experience working in a Series-A startup or earlier.
- Quick learner with a thirst for more knowledge.
Bonus Points
- Experience with the Spring framework.
- Experience with Kafka or similar distributed event store and stream-processing platform.
- Knowledge of creating and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Fintech industry experience.
Location
Rightfoot is based in San Francisco, CA. You'll be expected to come into the office to collaborate with the team 4 days a week, with the option to work from home on Fridays.
