Your Role:
As a Staff Backend Engineer at Apollo.io, you will lead the development and implementation of complex software solutions. You will be responsible for setting technical directions and overseeing engineering projects in collaboration with the CTO to decide on the technology roadmap. Your role will significantly impact the engineering department by aligning engineering priorities with Apollo's business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in key technical decision-making discussions such as sprint planning, software design, and code reviews.
- Help build and scale a world-class engineering team through interviewing and referrals.
- Conduct systematic weekly 1:1 touchpoints with engineers to deliver and receive quality feedback.
- Set technical direction and oversee engineering projects.
- Mentor and sponsor team members to foster growth and success.
- Provide objective and helpful quarterly performance feedback for engineers.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study.
- Over 10 years of relevant work experience in software development.
- Experience in software development using general-purpose programming languages such as Java, Python, etc.
- Experience in architecting and developing distributed systems design.
Great to Have Skills:
- Familiarity with Big Data Technologies, Ruby on Rails, React, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, DevOps.
Apollo Tech Stack:
- Front-end: React/Redux/NodeJS
- Backend: Ruby/Ruby on Rails/Python/MongoDB/ElasticSearch
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes/Docker/Ansible/Terraform
