Job Overview
The Motley Fool is seeking a Contract Fullstack Python Developer with a strong background in payment processing and billing systems, such as Stripe. This is a senior-level, independent contract role requiring a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. The position is fully remote, but candidates must be willing to work East Coast hours to ensure overlap with team members in Europe.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust payment processing and billing solutions using technologies like Stripe and Recurly.
- Architect and implement scalable AWS-native systems.
- Foster a proactive and adaptable approach to project challenges and evolving requirements.
- Display enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring within the team, especially in advancing technical skill sets and project management techniques.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of development experience with Python.
- Experience building APIs using Python-based frameworks like FastAPI or Django Rest Framework.
- Proficiency in asynchronous programming in Python, including knowledge of asyncio, event loops, and performance tuning.
- Experience with distributed systems and Test Driven Development.
- Strong online collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
- Strong knowledge of Python’s typings module and experience with at least one strongly typed language (Java, C#, Scala, etc.).
- Experience in integrating payment processing systems with various platforms and services.
- In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimizations and performance tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Domain Driven Design and modular systems.
- Direct experience with a payment/billing system like Stripe or Recurly.
- Experience with front-end technologies or seamless integration with front-end focused developments.
- A passion for long-term investing and/or familiarity with The Motley Fool’s tools and services.
