About the Role
At Channable, we are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our Developer Experience (DevEx) team. With over 100 developers, we are rapidly building and launching features to meet the demands of our customers in the dynamic eCommerce environment. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in improving and scaling our cloud infrastructure and ensuring the smooth operation of our tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Automate the building, testing, provisioning, and deployment of our services.
- Manage our infrastructure as code, ensuring it is reviewable and version-controlled.
- Harden and secure our internal and external systems.
- Improve and maintain our monitoring and alerting systems.
- Develop new tools to enhance the efficiency and enjoyment of our software development process.
Requirements
- Experience in software development and maintaining complex distributed applications.
- Interest in declarative infrastructure, reproducible builds, CI/CD, dynamic resource scaling, and security best practices.
- Commitment to high-quality engineering.
- Experience with CI systems such as Semaphore, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Travis.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (SSH, DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTP, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of Linux and system administration tools.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Security-awareness and familiarity with concepts like defense-in-depth and the principle of least privilege.
- Solid programming skills, preferably in Python.
- EU citizenship or a work permit, preferably already living in The Netherlands.
- Available for at least 32 hours per week.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing infrastructure with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Knowledge of Hashicorp tools like Consul, Nomad, Vault, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Nix.
- Experience using databases like PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems.
