As a DevOps Engineer at NU.nl, you will be part of the largest digital news brand in the Netherlands, reaching over seven million Dutch people monthly. This role presents exciting challenges, such as handling peak traffic, personalization, and managing numerous interactions on our NUjij platform. Your work will be visible to almost the entire country, as NU.nl is a go-to source for news.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve the infrastructure (AWS EKS) and development pipeline (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) used at NU.nl.
• Support the other three NU.nl development teams alongside your team.
• Collaborate with DevOps colleagues across other DPG Media areas.
• Stay updated on AWS and CNCF landscapes.
• Identify and implement improvements in a controlled manner with your team.
• Detect, analyze, and resolve disruptions.

Requirements

• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), AWS (Multi-environment), and Akamai.
• Proficiency in Infra-as-Code, preferably Terraform and Helm.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts (GitOps, automated testing, branching models, pipeline automation like GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of SecDevOps and SRE principles.
• Programming experience with Python and Golang.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar environment.
• Dutch is your primary language.

The Team

NU.nl has several teams, including three development teams and one DevOps team. The DevOps team is responsible for the AWS EKS platform and supports the development teams to effectively and safely evolve the platform. The current DevOps team consists of a product owner and three senior engineers (two freelancers) with deep knowledge of the NU.nl platform, AWS landscape, and Kubernetes environment. Development teams include skills across Android, iOS, Node.js, Python, testing, and product ownership. Teams work closely with editorial, marketing, advertising, and other departments within DPG.
