Overview
Join Affirm as an Early Career Software Engineer and embark on a journey where your coding skills will shape the future of finance. This hybrid role, based in Chicago, offers a unique blend of in-office and remote work, providing a balanced work environment. You will be part of a program that kicks off in summer 2024, designed specifically for computer science or related majors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow Affirm's in-store product, including designing and implementing text-to-apply support with store-specific SMS codes.
- Build batch data pipelines to improve the resiliency and accuracy of Affirm's loan origination processes with its originating bank.
- Conduct a major overhaul of Affirm's cryptography platform, used to encrypt sensitive customer data and perform other cryptographic operations.
- Design and implement a public key infrastructure for mutually authenticated and encrypted communication between backend services.
What We Look For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent training/fellowship/work experience.
- Experience with one of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Java, Kotlin, Javascript, reactJS and/or similar languages.
- Familiarity with deployment and automated testing frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate with your team in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion and drive to change consumer banking for the better!

Additional Information
This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. The base pay range in CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT is $130,000 - $170,000 per year, and $115,000 - $155,000 in all other U.S. states.
