Engineering Manager - Remote

This role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and can be based anywhere within the U.S.

What You Will Do:

Domain Expertise

• Lead and mentor a team dedicated to enhancing the search experience, ensuring users find relevant content quickly and efficiently.
• Guide your team in applying best practices in search technologies, mobile optimization, and working with product, design, and search teams.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical learning within your team.

Delivery

• Ensure high standards of code quality, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members to elevate coding practices.
• Oversee project execution, ensuring timely delivery and effective task management.

Communication

• Communicate effectively with stakeholders about project status and expectations.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to align team efforts with organizational objectives and product goals.

Leadership

• Mentor and guide your team with regular code reviews, pair programming, one-on-one sessions, career and growth planning, and performance reviews.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Experienced manager with a track record of transforming and building high performing teams.
• Strong product partnership experience with dedicated product managers.
• Ability to guide, mentor, and develop the team's performance.
• Experience with PHP (legacy), Next.js, React, Node, Python.
• Familiarity with search technologies and mobile optimization.
• Experience working with Product, Design, and Search teams (including Data Science / Machine Learning).
• Learning-oriented, emphasizing continuous learning for yourself and the team.
• Strong ownership and accountability.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to product quality.

• Competitive and fair compensation: We believe in fair pay--equal pay for equal work. For each title, we consistently apply competitive salary bands based on market data and benchmarks which are reviewed twice a year. What you've been paid before, fear of conflict, or willingness to negotiate does not play a part in determining your pay.
• The annual base salary range for this position is $173,000 - $183,000. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
