Apollo.io is seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to lead and grow our engineering team. As a key leader within our organization, you will play a critical role in driving excellence, productivity, and growth within Apollo's engineering department. This is a remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere while leading a team of skilled engineers.

Your Role & Mission

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

• Define and Set Goals: Help the team define, set, and adhere to goals and expectations.
• Drive Culture: Foster a culture of excellence, learning, and fun within the engineering team.
• Improve Processes: Critically observe and improve development and management processes.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with key stakeholders such as the CTO, Product Managers, and Designers to deliver high-quality software at a rapid pace.
• Participate in Decision-Making: Be a part of key decision-making processes within the engineering organization.

Daily Adventures and Responsibilities

• Technical Decision-Making: Participate in key technical discussions such as sprint planning, software design, and code reviews.
• Team Building: Help build and scale a world-class engineering team by sourcing and hiring candidates.
• Mentorship: Conduct weekly 1:1 touchpoints with engineers to deliver and receive quality feedback.
• Performance Reviews: Conduct objective and helpful quarterly performance reviews for engineers.

• Strategic Execution: You have the leadership skills to think and execute strategically but are not afraid to get your hands dirty when needed.
• Technical Understanding: Your technical understanding of engineering systems, especially related to data, is second to none.

Skills and Relevant Experiences

• Experience: 8+ years of hands-on software engineering industry experience.
• People Management: 3-5 years' experience in people management, preferably leading senior engineers and managers.
• Technical Leadership: Proven track record of technical leadership.
• Software Architecture: Strong fundamentals in software architecture at scale.
• Programming Languages: Experience with Ruby and Python.
• Data Privacy: Understanding of data privacy and security fundamentals.

Great to Have

• Familiarity with Technologies: React, MongoDB, SQL, data warehousing, and ElasticSearch.
• Data Platforms: Experience with data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Looker.
• Machine Learning: Experience with Machine Learning.
