Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled IT Network Engineer to join our team in South San Francisco, California. This is an on-site position requiring a dedicated professional to design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage firewalls, switches, and access points.
- Conduct detailed network analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network infrastructure in office, at customer sites, and on bots.
- Implement and maintain network monitoring, logging, and alerting for multiple sites.
- Manage and maintain multiple ISP connections for corporate and customer locations.
- Conduct regular network maintenance, including updating software and hardware.
- Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Assist with incident response for network issues, providing troubleshooting and resolution.
- Travel to customer sites for setup and deployment of ISP's and network hardware.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in network engineering in medium to large scale networks.
- Deep understanding of routing protocols.
- Experience with firewalls, tunneling protocols (IPSEC, GRE), and advanced Layer 2 protocols (Spanning Tree, LACP, HSRP, MPLS).
- Experience with switches, firewalls & access points from brands like Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Mikrotik, Arista, Ruckus, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Palo Alto.
- Proven track record of designing, deploying, and managing multi-site network deployments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- At least one relevant certification such as Network+, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIE.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with DHCP, DNS, LDAP, OSI Model, SSH.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with DIY/maker mindset, working with unique off-the-shelf components.
- Hands-on experience in implementing network security measures (ACLs, NAC, Port Security, AAA).
- Familiarity with pfSense, OPNSense, OpenWRT, etc.
Workplace
This role is based in South San Francisco, California, and requires on-site presence.
Salary
The salary range for this position is between €15,000 and €140,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
