Role Overview
HireArt is seeking a dynamic and skilled Robot Trainer to join the Toyota Research Institute's deployment team in Los Altos, CA. This role involves using advanced teleoperation tools such as joysticks, game pads, virtual reality, and force-feedback devices to control robots and teach them new tasks.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and Evaluate Robot Behaviors: You will demonstrate robot behaviors and evaluate autonomous actions derived from these demonstrations to create ways for robots to perform traditionally human tasks.
- Feedback and Improvement: Provide feedback on the design of deployed robots in real-world situations and use this feedback to improve daily operations.
- Safety and Prototyping: Emphasize a safety-first approach while working with robots and engage in various aspects of prototyping, data collection, and process development.
- Diverse Task Management: Help design new, interesting, and challenging behaviors for robots, contributing to a diverse curriculum of behavior.
Requirements
- Familiarity with computers and a keen interest in robotics.
- Physical dexterity and good hand-eye coordination, often gained from video game experience.
- Open-mindedness to perform varied tasks and a generalist approach.
- Ability to lift up to 49lbs/22.5kg safely.
- Effective communication skills and dependability.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, contract position through HireArt, requiring a Monday to Thursday work schedule (10 hours per day). The role is based in Los Altos, CA, and requires commuting to various job sites within a 5-mile radius of Mountain View, CA.
