Wayfair is seeking a passionate Junior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Berlin. As a part of our engineering department, you will work on solving complex problems and building highly scalable applications that enhance our customers' shopping experience.

Responsibilities

Design and Develop: Create high-quality, scalable services with effective boundaries that align with our long-term vision and strategy.
Architectural Decisions: Drive impactful architectural decisions and contribute to the development, design, execution, and delivery of projects following best coding practices.
Production Readiness: Focus on testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting to ensure production readiness.
Technical Growth: Influence and contribute to the technical growth of teammates and develop products aligned with the long-term strategy.
Collaborative Work: Foster collaborative ways of working, including testing practices, TDD, pairing/mobbing, continuous deployment, and domain-driven design.
Continuous Improvement: Challenge the status quo and push for continuous improvement in processes and solutions.

Qualifications

Experience: At least 1 year of experience with modern JVM tech stacks (Java/Kotlin) is required. Experience with SOA and microservice architectures is essential, and PHP experience is a plus.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of object-oriented software development, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
Tools and Platforms: Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD platforms, and cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud) is advantageous.
Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence decisions in an inclusive and adaptable manner.
Education: Degree in Computer Science, a technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
