The Role & The Team
Join our Transaction Risk Management team as a Backend Engineer and become part of a dynamic and diverse group of engineers and applied scientists. Our team is responsible for several predictive services running in Java, Python, AWS, and Kubernetes to safeguard other teams in the checkout domain at Zalando. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, raise the technical bar, improve our operational excellence, and shape our ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services for transaction risk management.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and applied science teams to build infrastructure for intelligent and predictive services.
- Ensure the performance and reliability of services impacting Zalando customers and partners.
- Contribute to the roadmap and vision of the team, with opportunities to take on responsibilities as the team grows.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience as a backend engineer for cloud-based technologies, preferably on AWS.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java and Python.
- Passion for developing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
- Motivation for personal development and discovering new technologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in designing, developing, and operating microservices on distributed systems.
- High level of test automation experience (unit, component, integration).
- Knowledge of automated deployment and monitoring through CI/CD pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
- Interest in big data, statistics, and machine learning approaches.
