Job Overview
Join Amazon's Cloud Robotics team as a Software Development Engineer II, where you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies for autonomous mobility. This role involves designing and implementing robotic applications and infrastructure in the cloud, collaborating with machine learning and perception experts to deploy algorithms, and maintaining high standards in software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robotic applications and infrastructure in the cloud.
- Collaborate with machine learning and perception experts to implement, measure, and deploy algorithms.
- Influence the team's strategy and contribute to the long-term vision and roadmap for large-scale robotic log processing.
- Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
- Prototype and test concepts or features through simulation, emulators, and live robotic equipment.
- Profile, tune, and optimize system performance.
- Mentor other engineering team members.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience with a focus on reliability and scaling.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, Dynamo DB, EMR, Glue, Athena.
- Experience developing cloud services with an understanding of design for scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Good understanding of distributed computing environments.
- Experience with mobile robotics, including machine learning, data labeling, sensor procession, perception, and localization.

The Cloud Robotics team is a multi-disciplinary group of Applied Scientists and Software Engineers with expertise in Computer Vision, SLAM, motion planning, and controls. Our mission is to deliver robust software solutions utilizing state-of-the-art sensor technologies and algorithms for safe and efficient operation of autonomous mobile robots across Amazon's fulfillment and transportation network.
