Sleip provides the world’s most advanced computer vision software for biomechanical motion quantification and measurements, specializing in Equine Gait Analysis. Our scientifically validated AI model processes video recordings to extract detailed movement patterns, which greatly helps to identify, assess, diagnose, and monitor lameness in horses. Our primary customers are equine veterinary practices across the world who are rapidly adopting the Sleip technology and product.

The Role

We are looking for a full-time Senior Backend Developer to join our team. The role is based on-site at the HQ in Stockholm. As a Senior Backend Developer at Sleip, you'll be involved in shaping the architecture of our backend services while also getting hands-on with cutting-edge cloud technologies like Kubernetes, GPUs, and Cloud Run. This role offers a unique mix of building customer-facing features and architecting scalable systems from the ground up. You’ll work on reducing cloud costs, optimizing performance, and delivering impactful features—all while collaborating closely with the product team to drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve our backend services, ensuring they scale efficiently while maintaining performance.
• Collaborate with product teams to build and deploy customer-facing features.
• Leverage cloud infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes, GPUs, Cloud Run) to implement robust solutions.
• Continuously optimize systems for cost-efficiency and performance.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless deployments.

• Comfortable working autonomously, taking ownership of complex projects from start to finish, and driving them forward while balancing both technical and product needs.
• Adaptable and collaborative, you thrive in a small team environment, effectively communicating ideas and gathering requirements in a not always formal setting.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written, ensuring clear communication with the team and stakeholders.
• Resilient and proactive – able to maintain a clear direction and keep projects on track, even when facing unexpected challenges.

What You’ll Bring

• Deep experience with Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on building scalable backend APIs.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly Firebase, Firestore, GKE, Cloud Run, and PubSub.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and cloud automation.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with either Python, FRP, and Ansible is a plus.
• Having previously worked in an entrepreneurial/start-up environment.
