Pear Commerce is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable backend systems. You will work closely with frontend teams to build shopper-facing and embedded JavaScript SDKs, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Implement Backend Systems: Utilize Java and other modern technologies to create robust backend systems that support our ecommerce platform.
Collaborate with Frontend Developers: Work alongside frontend teams to develop SPA (Single Page Application) JavaScript/HTML interfaces and embedded JavaScript SDKs.
Manage AWS Deployments: Ensure the reliability and scalability of our infrastructure through effective AWS deployment management.
API Development: Implement and optimize APIs that enable CPG brands to engage directly with shoppers, providing real-time inventory and purchasing options.
Continuous Integration and Deployment: Leverage GitHub PR workflows and CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless development and deployment processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to deliver marketing tools and solutions that drive engagement and sales.

Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in backend development using languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Scala, Go, or Ruby.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in building modern, resilient backend systems, and experience with HTTP REST, GraphQL, and cloud computing systems like AWS.
Mentorship: A passion for teaching and mentoring teammates on software engineering best practices.
Version Control: Experience with modern version-control systems such as Git, Mercurial, GitHub, or BitBucket.
Testing and Linting: Knowledge of code testing and linting practices.
Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing systems and SAAS concepts.
Monitoring and Alerting: Ability to plan, build, and scrutinize monitoring and alerting for production systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: €170,000 - €235,000 per year, based on experience and skillset.
Benefits: 100% health premiums paid for you and your dependents, fully remote work with bi-yearly onsites, 401(k) plan, $250/month co-working space stipend, $350 one-time home office stipend, 20 company holidays, and unlimited PTO.
