About the Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Spotify, you will be a part of the Podcast Mission team, dedicated to providing the best tools and technology for podcast creators. You will be responsible for designing and developing backend systems and APIs that support the creation, distribution, and monetization of podcasts. Your work will directly impact the way creators grow and engage with their audience.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with internal partners to design scalable backend systems.
- Architect, develop, and operate Java services deployed to millions of users.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional agile teams.
- Drive the backend architecture across Spotify.
- Engage with the Spotify-wide backend developer community.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering with Java.
- Experience with gRPC, GCP, BigQuery, Bigtable, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Typescript, and React is a plus.
- You excel in writing distributed, high-volume services and their deployment.
- You have a keen interest in the podcast industry and product development.
Where You'll Be
This role offers the flexibility to work remotely within any timezone from Eastern (UTC -5:00) to Pacific (UTC -8:00). Our team values experimentation and quick iteration.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $156,275 - $223,250 per year, plus equity.
