Job Overview
The New York Mets are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their Baseball Analytics team. This role is pivotal in building, testing, and presenting statistical models that inform decision-making across all facets of Baseball Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in complex statistics and data analytics, with the ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Development: Build statistical models to address a wide range of baseball-related questions, using advanced statistical techniques and data analytics.
- Data Interpretation: Analyze data and report conclusions, ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Baseball Analytics team and other Baseball Operations personnel to understand project parameters and deliver insights.
- Mentorship: Assist in recruiting, hiring, and mentoring new analysts within the Baseball Analytics department.
- Innovation: Evaluate new data sources and technologies to enhance the department's modeling capabilities.
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in statistics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in R, Python, or similar programming languages, and strong SQL skills.
- Communication: Excellent ability to convey complex statistical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively and lead large-scale projects with minimal oversight.
Additional Information
- Location: This position is based in Queens, New York, and requires on-site presence.
- Salary: The salary range for this position is €115,000 to €145,000 per year.
