Job Description
We are seeking a Data Scientist with relevant DFS or Sportsbook experience to help support our risk and trading function at Sleeper, a leading platform in Fantasy Sports. This role is crucial for managing risk and liability in our Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operations.
Responsibilities
- Risk and Liability Management: Conduct data analysis and modeling to identify trends, patterns, and insights in Sleeper’s DFS operations.
- Predictive Modeling: Develop predictive models and algorithms to understand real-time liability, including risk exposure related to specific markets and events.
- Data Wrangling: Perform data processing and cleaning operations, and design tools for monitoring and analyzing performance and accuracy.
- Market Monitoring: Monitor all pricing for real-time odds, active player statistics markets, breaking news, and other relevant information to make real-time market adjustments.
- User Risk Profiling: Build out user risk profiles, analyze behavior patterns and trends, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance personalization.
- Automation: Automate risk and trading processes to scale for growth in users, sports, and markets.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, mathematics/statistics, or a similar field.
- Experience: Extensive experience with DFS/sports betting and real money games, either as a trader, +EV bettor, and/or oddsmaker.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL, Python, and familiar with databases, data warehouses, data visualizations, and report building.
- Sports Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of DFS, sports betting, player props, handicapping, expected value, and closing line value.
- Flexibility: Comfortable working “off hours” to align with peaks in the sports calendar, including nights and weekends.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $75,000 - $150,000 per year
