About The Role
The New York Times is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Mobile Games to lead a dynamic team in the development of multiplayer puzzle games on iOS and Android platforms. This role is pivotal in collaborating with Product, Design, and Producers to deliver top-tier gaming experiences that engage millions daily.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Bring your expertise in building high-traffic multiplayer games, particularly in the mobile space. Manage a team of 5-8 engineers across iOS, Android, and Backend, ensuring high-quality game development.
- Team Management: Foster an environment that enhances productivity and collaboration. Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Strategic Planning: Guide outcomes and set technical strategies involving multiple teams. Work closely with product owners, designers, and producers to deliver compelling puzzles and games.
- Advocacy for Best Practices: Help establish and advocate for engineering best practices within the team.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience managing native mobile engineering teams and 5 years in building complex iOS or Android apps. Experience in building high-traffic social games or mobile apps with social features is required.
- Skills: Proficiency in distributed systems to handle large-scale challenges. Demonstrated enthusiasm for collaboration with product and design teams.
