Perplexity is seeking a talented and experienced Frontend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. Responsibilities

• Develop Core UI/UX Features: Work on the core user interface and user experience features of Perplexity's platform, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for our users.
• Contribute to Component Library: Enhance and expand our component library, ensuring reusability and consistency across our applications.
• Performance Optimization: Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure our applications run smoothly and efficiently.
• Frontend Infrastructure Improvement: Continuously improve our frontend infrastructure, adopting best practices and new technologies where appropriate.
• Collaborate with Backend Engineers: Work closely with backend engineers to define API specifications and ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.

Key Qualifications

• Experience: At least 4+ years of experience with React and TypeScript, with a strong understanding of state management patterns and the React rendering process.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in NodeJS and ideally NextJS. Familiarity with React-Query, Turborepo, and TailwindCSS is a plus.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• UI/UX Passion: A keen interest in the future of UI/UX, with a belief in the transformative potential of large language models (LLMs).
• Attention to Detail: A commitment to building great user experiences by getting the details right.
• Tech Savvy: Up-to-date with the latest technologies in frontend development, while maintaining a practical approach to their application.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: The cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 to $220,000 per year.
• Equity: Equity is part of the total compensation package, allowing you to share in the success of Perplexity.
