About The Role
Join Optum, a global leader in health services and innovation, as a Senior Principal Data Scientist. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing machine learning solutions that directly impact health outcomes. You will work with a dynamic team of data scientists and subject matter experts to build production-ready models and deliver high-impact, value-driven solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead Machine Learning Model Development: Design and develop machine learning models using state-of-the-art techniques and libraries. Ensure smooth transition from development to production environments.
- Collaborate with Business Partners: Work closely with solution advisors and payment integrity business partners to align project initiatives with business goals.
- Engage with Subject-Matter Experts: Explore business problems and design innovative solutions.
- Ensure Compliance: Understand and comply with legal, ethical, and regulatory considerations in data science delivery.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Promote compliant use of tooling and processes across the data science team.
- Provide Thought Leadership: Stay updated on technological advances in AI and advanced analytics and their applications.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Substantial hands-on experience in data science and machine learning, with a proven track record of developing production-ready solutions.
- NLP Expertise: Proven expertise in implementing solutions for unstructured text data using advanced natural language processing techniques.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated expertise in managing stakeholders and fostering collaboration across business units.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Firm understanding of legal, ethical, and regulatory considerations in a highly regulated industry.
- Mentorship: Ability to provide guidance and mentorship within the team, sharing expertise to foster professional growth.
- Education: Advanced Degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related technical field.
